Congratulations Jamie! Jamie Oliver has won 2010's annual TED prize. As part of the prize, the winner makes a wish that will change the world. Jamie's desire "...is for you to have a strong, sustainable movement to educate every child about food, to inspire families to cook again and to empower people everywhere to fight obesity." It's a very apt moment for this very high-profile prize to be given to someone such as Jamie Oliver who can make a difference in the fight against obesity. This disease is a huge and growing problem for the world, especially the US. The timing is even more appropriate given President Barack Obama's move to reform healthcare. Reform alone will not make America healthier as so much preventable sickness is caused by poor diet. Jamie has already had a lot of success in changing the attitude towards school dinners in the UK. These essential means had been reduced to un-nutrious junk food by successive budget cuts. Though his television programme Jamie's School Dinners, he managed to raise awareness of the issues and make the UK government, school boards and schools take remedial action. In order to make his wish come true, Jamie has identified several initiatives he wants to see implemented:

It's essential for the future health of Americans and the Developed world that Jamie is successful!
